The Schwartz Altruism Scale Adolescent version is a self-report measure that assesses four aspects of altruistic practice: Receiving/Giving Emotional Support, Family Helping Behavior, General Helping Behavior, and Helping Orientation. This measure was adapted from several existing measures. The Schwartz Altruism Scale Adult version is a 16-item self-report measure adapted for use with adults from the Schwartz Altruism Scale Adolescent version.

The MS Self-efficacy Scale is an 18-item measure designed to measure self-efficacy in patients with multiple sclerosis. Respondents are asked to rate on a scale from 10 to 100 how certain they are that they could perform specific behaviors. The measure has two subscales: Self-Efficacy Control and Self-Efficacy Function. The MSSE has documented high internal consistency and test-retest reliability, both for the overall scale and for each of the two subscales. Results of convergent and divergent validity analyses support the construct validity of the scale.

The Flex is a card sort measure of coping flexibility. It asks respondents to place 20 coping response cards on a sorting sheet to describe how they would cope with a specified stressful situation chosen from six life domains. Coping responses were developed in focus groups with chronically ill patients. The Flex has documented discriminant validity and has revealed consistent neuropsychological, psychosocial, and existential differences among respondents exhibiting high and low consistency across sorts.

The DeltaQuest Adult and Pediatric Cognitive Reserve Measures and the updated and improved DeltaQuest Reserve-Building Activities Measure include past and current reserve-building activities components, focusing on factors that are antecedent to disease onset, and an active reserve component, activities and behaviors that an individual currently engages in. Work by our group has identified consistent and substantial relationships between both reserve components and patient-reported outcomes. Individuals with high reserve appear to be healthier and experience higher levels of well-being.
